So if I were to use the output pin method, can the ECU earth the low speed fan relay the same way the BCM does? (the wire is already at the BCM, it needs to be extended to the ECU).

Can a VS V8 ECU turn the low speed fan ON through the BCM the same way a V6 ECU does?

The plan is to have the low speed fan operate in normal operating temps and have the high speed set up for overheat temps (like a V6).

On a VS, the low speed is switched on by the BCM for engine cooling and the high speed is switched on by the PCM for the A/C. The airflow when the fan is on low is still pretty good, but I would run the fan on high because generally the A/C is turned on on hot days. On my original question I think I...

What is the best way of turning the fans ON and OFF by the PCM? By retaining the orignal memcal or fitting a programmable one?

The main reason I want the PCM to turn the fan ON and OFF (not an external source) is so that the fans do not turn ON on the freeway.
