Re: Coil negative signal conditioning

I'd suggest a TVS diode and 5w resistor, that's worked well for me in the past. Zeners are designed for regulation, TVS (transient voltage suppression) diodes are designed to clamp high energy spikes from things like ignition coils. Another method that is better in some regards is to wind ~100 turns...

Re: 1980 Alfa GTV fuel injection conversion - beginner quest

Thank you very much for posting this information. I’ve had a bit of a break from this project as the clutch started to slip. How many notches did you put in the harmonic balance? You only need to cut 7 notches. The Alfetta harmonic balancer is nice thick cast iron, you could do it with an angle gri...

Yeah, it has been a while :(
But if anything was going to lure me back here, of course it's a delco alfa conversion thread! :driving:

Re: 1980 Alfa GTV fuel injection conversion - beginner quest

If it came out of an MPFI N13 Pulsar, you can be pretty sure it's an 808. I'm not sure what the code on that sticker is, but yours sounds about right because I just checked a couple of 808s and they have numbers starting with 95208L, 95215L etc. Have you considered distributorless ignition, rather t...

No, that's using the wrong length plugs on a well built head.
Trust me, it's a thing.

Big valves and high lift cams beat them pretty badly in some hemispheric combustion chambers :comp:

Obviously no one style of plug works best in all engines.

Re: Side gapped spark plugs

My alfas and bike all use OEM 'side gapped' plugs, although I usually run single ground plugs in the alfas because the OEMs are about $30 each  Advantages are that you don't have to index the plugs on hot motors, better plug life and less sensitive to voltage (more forgiving on gap). You'd los...

Re: Cluster PPK Calculator

It works fine for me on win7. A couple of suggestions though: - Is the initial splash screen necessary? - The wheel size calculator - shouldn't it be tyre size calculator instead, seeing as it uses width and profile measurements? - The wheel size PPK difference is reported in mm, would a percentage ...

Re: Motronic 2.10.3 (SAAB)

If I manage to carry this out, next up is hook up the gear in a car, are one able to use the datatrace-function in Tunerpro with the kkl-interface? If you start with one of the ADX files I posted a few years ago for the stock ML4.1 ECUs, you should only have to change the memory locations being req...
