Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
We made 260.1 hp tonight. One problem though, clutch is stuffed! Fuel only has been tuned, and only a little bit of timing, so hoping to see some more gains with a new clutch. Makes lots and lots of nice torque and it comes on strong straight away. It would be great if it made 300.

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
Anyone have any thoughts on what may be the most we could get out of this thing running the same basic configuration?
Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
I don't know much about your configuration but I'm sure you know that a motor is an air pump. The more air and fuel you can pump in the more HP you can punch out, go over everything and see if you can improve it any where, intake bends, exhaust bends, and as the old saying goes, how fast do you want to go = how much $$$ do you want to spend !

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
So far all of the modifications have be bolt on type. In the next phase of the development, I would like to concentrate on porting the heads and the intake manifold. I would also like to relocate the throttle body from the back of the manifold to the drivers side. This wil significantly reduce the length of the cold side I/c piping and also allow me to run the piping further away from the extractors.
I have also be looking at changing the cam. My research suggests that a wide LSA (over 120 degrees) and very conservative overlap with steep ramp rates is best for supercharged engines.

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
porting the heads and a suitable boost cam is definitely going to help ... the question is really, what is restricting it the most, that's the area to work on!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

cam would be the biggest restriction, followed by the heads somewhat considering all other mods done already.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

I was going to say the sc14 is the biggest restricction . I wonder how much energy is lost generating that whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine

Re: Sc14 to buick and e85
I'm going to stick with the SC14 I think. It's a bit of a challenge. I want to get the most I can out of it. I read somewhere that about 200 kW atw was about the limit for these things on a holden V6 so I'm hoping to get 240 . I'm knocking on the door of 200 kW as it is. I can build a nice bottom end and up the compression to probably 9.5-10, get the heads and intake flowing nicely and then see where i'm at.
I have read a lot of bad press on the SC14, but to be honest, in the mucking around I have done with the one I have, other than the noise, it's been great. You can eliminate quite a lot of the noise with the installation of a good airbox and plumbing the vent back into the piping before the supercharger. I think the M90 on the L67 would be pretty noisy too if it was as open to the outside as an SC14.
