Hi guys sorry to resurrect an old post.
I've got a vs ecotec engine in a conversion. I have the red wires hanging out that were connected to the obd port.
Soooo can I use 12v and earth, from the vehicle anywhere to get this to work?
What value is the resistor and diode?
Thanks

Earlier in this thread there is a link which shows component values .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic. ... 819#p28935
VR wiring of OBD port is here, should be closish or the same as VS colours .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic. ... 525#p41827
Pin 16 is fused contanst 12V.

also the brake pedal switch has constant 12v to it too used this when fitting OBD port to my brothers VP!
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

1k resistor. Any signal diode. Power is usually 5v, 12v is likely to destroy it (check specs for what you have). Clone ftdi chips from ebay wont work with modern drivers.

Sweet as.
Where do I get an original one, or what to look for for a
Real one on eBay. So the 5v should come off the USB anyways?

Finding the real ones is the hard bit! I dont think there is a way via ebay. Official supply channels are your best bet.
