If you have access to a vacuum gauge use that to determine the highest idle vacuum by adjusting the timing.
Bigger cams with more overlap generally will handle more timing at low rpm when compared to a stock cam.
Edit: which stage 2 cam and who did the tune? If it's a crow cam and tune then the tune will be very safe/average.
