Need Some Help

Post by uali1 »

Hey forum

I current have a 1996 Vs GTS 6 speed, Side mount supercharged vortech v2, ive just recently built the bottom end and took it for a tune, though my car is running even worse the what it originally was, so I took it to another guy who seems to know what he's talking about, he offered to have a look at my car, after diagnosing the ecu he came up with the following codes 51, 66, 68, 69, 72 & 73 and was in limp mode and advised it needs proper retuning, I now have a copy of the tune if I post it could someone have a look at it and give me a second opinion.

Cheers

Just saw this and though I would post whats going on.
Had no idea he was posting here.
The car has had some issues and ive been sorting through wih the owner.
1 was 10.1 plus comp and no intercooler dizzy advanced 16 deg (in diagnostic mode)
I pulled it back to 8 deg in diagnostic mode.
I have had problems tuning it also the car tuned ok 1st time but started detontating
so called it off.
He came back intercooled pulled back the timing to 8 deg and
found it misfiring and blowing steam out the exhaust
blown head gasket when he was told to not drive it hard and keep off boost.
I tuned shit loads of cars and this one seems to have a lot of issues
with tyring to live tune it, sometimes my gear works other times straight into limp mode
like the other day.
I had another customer turn up and quickly had to program a chip to get it running.
All I said was get a tech 2 on it see what the codes are and come back.
I was able to log that day and then later on it would just put the car
into limp mode anytime I tried to log.
Its really odd. Im using 12p 2 bar tune but its no where near done
as we are having issues trying to get my gear to communicate.
The gear is a 2.0 ostrich and one of vl400s communication cables.
Ive tried to get it to work and sometimes it will and other times it wont.
Its got the hsv security vss ,the magnet in the console.
Ive tuned an auto 355 no issues that had the same hsv security but have had trouble in the past
with the vr/vs manual ecu's.
Maybe im not doing something right with 12p
At 1st it wouldn't run so changed the id to a v110 id and it ran fine.
Had it idling running ok then fuel pump stays on,and tried another ecu
and same thing even without the ecu plugged in!
It stopped when I burnt the chip and put the vr/vs ecu back in.
I also noticed it had a solenoid at the brake booster of some sort
and the connections were shorting on the ac pipe near the brake booster.
Im more than happy to try sort through things.
Tune file is attached if there are issue please
point them out so I can fix it and get this car running properly.
I think the id may be wrong but it wouldn't start with the original
and anti theft disabled.
Gotta say ive never had this much trouble tuning a car.
I did a 304 in a patrol after this car with absolutely no issues whatsoever.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Aso codes 66, 68, 69, 72 & 73 don't even show up in 12p so that's odd.
51 is memcal id but that's disabled.

something doesnt add up... because 12P doesnt have those error codes for starters. how were they retreived?? also the code area checksum is wrong and you have tried to solve that by turning off the checksum DTC? not sure how the checksum would have been mangled like that unless someone edited it manually?
this bin is mangled! you need to start with a fresh bin and copy your cal in and try again. dont mess with ID's or checksums if its not running... its only going to make it worse. it most likely only started running when you broke the checksum because it started running off the backup resistors in limp mode.

also a log would be helpful.

Being 6 speed does it run same ecu as auto due to speed sensor?

I thought it may have been corrupted somehow
I did change the id so my bad.
Originally I downloaded of here so it shouldnt be mangled apart from the id
and checksum dtc turned off.
I don't know about the other codes as he took it somewhere else.
Up to the owner but ill start again with a new tune hopefully that works.
If he wants to use another tuner that's fine.
I don't have any logs as it wasn't running right abviously.
When he left it ran but engine light was on.
I just ran out of time that day.

only one setting changed for injector size all other settings for injector pulse corrections stock not good when running 60's.no air temp spark retard for high intake temps .lean cruise on turn that shit off will be way out of whack without all the injector corrections done. i dont even hit boost or tune boost ve table untill injector offsets are done so the off boost ve table works as it should
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

I washt saying its wrong im asking, as ive seen 6 speeds with 2 wire speed senders same as auto. Then I see the auto fault codes read out.
Possibly why 12P hasn't reacted as expected. But you've sighted a manual ecu so 12P shouldn't have any problems.
