Speed sensor voltage

Can anyone please tell me if the voltage that goes to the speed sensor input in an 808 ecu has to be 5 volts or can it handle 12 volts? I have an acewell reed switch I would like to use as a speed sensor which sends a 12 volt square wave compared to a Hall effect which I believe all have an output of 5 volts

The 808 has 12V on A10 so your 12 volt square wave will work as long as it is pulled to ground as the vehicle moves.

So your saying a10 has a constant voltage on it?

A10 has 12V ignition via a pullup resistor, it varies with battery volts but that does not matter. So like kojab said, if your switch pulls to ground you get a 12V square wave which is fine - the factory speed sensor gives a 12V square wave on A10.

Yes it has a constant 12V voltage on it but only when is is not being pulled to ground by the speed sensor.
