Vn ss v8 , won't start.

Post by Thmpar »

Hey guys, sorry if this isn't in the correct spot.
Had a mates car towed to me that wouldn't start, it's a Vn ss v8 auto, stock standard, actually wouldn't wind over at the start.
Found almost all cylinders hydrauliced one fuel.
It had enough fuel in the cylinders it ran out of plug holes like water out of a tap.

Replaced plugs, leads, cap and rotor button. Unplugged injectors and it fired up, plugged all injectors back in , it now floods and trys to fire, unplug injectors again it will run till fuel runs out.

Fuel press reg isn't leaking, have changed ECM with my known good one and made no difference.
Checked all fuses, relays etc no fault codes present.
It's like the injectors are full open all the time.

Anyone got suggestions on what direction I should be going.
Haven't seen this sort of thing even after all these years in the trade.

Thanx

When you plug injectors in and wind it does the start then stall flooded or does it not fire at all? Checked fuel pressure isnt thru roof? Checked codes to see if any present? Map sensor hose buggered or map sensor itself rooted?

Haven't checked fuel pressure as yet, need or get fuel press gauges back from work. , fuel pump is a week old,
Map sensor hose is good, have tried known good sensor.

Maybe a shorted loom? Could remove the injector plugs, and with key on plug in/remove an injector connector and see if the injector clicks maybe.

I think VL400 might have it. With the ign off put a multimeter on the injector socket terminals one at a time and see if one is direct to ground. I had that problem with a Camry. I was about to replace the ECU when I wiggled the wiring as it was running it flooded one cylinder (because their sequential) turned out to be wiring burnt through against the EGR valve.
