How do I read and edit a cal file in Tunerpro
I have downloaded the cal and bin file from a VY and the bin file works fine in Tunerpro but the cal file shows me nothing at all. Is there something I have to set/do to be able to look at the cal file only?

not sure, but my guess would be that the cal section doesnt start at 0x0000 so it needs an offset pre-pended or updated in the vy XDF. Simplest option would be to download bin, upload cal only (select the bin as the source when uploading cal).

That is correct, the issue is the cal file data starts at address 0 but the XDF does not.
This is something that has been changed in the next flashtool release. You will now have the option to pad out a cal file to a bin size and offsets much like the plugin does in TunerPro.

That explains whats happening. Not quiet my area of expertise. I am just playing around at the moment bench testing trying to learn a little so I might change the bin and reload it but I do believe you can turn the ECU into a brick doing this.
Thanks for the advice.

Do as antus suggested, get bin, edit in tunerpro and then write cal. The flashtool will know its a full bin, but only write the cal section which is normally recoverable if something goes wrong.

I didn't know you could do that. Great. I will give it a try later. Thanks

Tried it and it works fine. The question I have is when you go to save the CAL file it says the checksum has changed so I clicked yes did it again and it was fine. I then read the bin and checked to see if what I changed had been changed and it was. Is this normal to change the checksum value?

As you have edited the bin the checksum needed to change, but TunerPro cannot calc the checksum on its own so you need a checksum plugin .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic. ... gin#p31079
The flashtool can calc the checksum and then fix it up for you if you dot want to use the CS plugin.
