got any error codes in the pcm? that will point you to the right direction... the gearbox is electronic, so you will have to have the auto loom connected... also the speed sensor on the gearbox must be connected. wires will be in engine loom already. also need to make sure you providing power to the positive wire that goes to the auto gearbox.

Ok could you possibly tell me which wire that would be? Ill have a look on my diagram

I should mention I removed the transmission switch and put back on close as possible to where it was.
Could this screw the gear change or is this mainly for P R N D selection?

no the switch on the gearstick does nothing in the pcm side. the pcm has pressure switch block inside the gearbox to see what position the stick is in.. power to auto gearbox is pink with blue trace. see if it has power down at the gearbox loom.

So I had a quick look through my loom and found this. These wires run right next to the 12v wires for the coils from memory.
I wonder what the green and black with white trace is for? And the Pink with Blue trace is what we're after, all these wires I tucked away in case I need them, they are not connected to 12v. Is this the only Pink with Blue trace?

this is from the wiring diagram........

EFI Relay outputs
pink/blue = AUto gearbox
Pink = MAF sensor + O2 sensor heaters + Purge Canister
Red = Coils + Injectors Right side
light Green = Coils + injectors - left side

im not sure exactly, but green might be the wire from the AC compressor, to the AC relay. black/white Might be the wire from the throttle relaxer module, to the ABS modulator... maybe.
if all else fails, grab the multi meter and make sure where the wires land with ohms test.

Coils and injectors must be ok. Engine seems to run fine.
Ill buz out or ohm out the pink with blue trace. Im assuming it goes to the 15 pin round plug in the gearbox on the drivers side?

BINGO!!!!!
You're a champion mate :)
I couldn't drive it tonight but put 12v on the Pink with blue trace, put it in gear, pressed accelerator and brake at the same time and it either nearly lifted off or tried to do a burn out in the garage so definitely in 1st gear bwahahahah
