Engine conversion. VY engine/gearbox and computer into WB

Post by Bart »

Hi guys Im a bit new to this. Usually I toss out the factory computer and install an after market.
This time I got a VY Commodore with LS1 and auto computer etc.
So I want to transplant all this into a WB Statesman.
As far as im aware i need to bypass the security system, electronic ignition key etc.
What software/hardware can you suggest to me to achieve all this. I have done a quick search on "engine conversion" but came up withVX/VZ swap
Thanks

efilive or hptuners packages includes a cable to flash the ls1 and sells for > $600

not sure how much someone would charge to turn off vats but could be $100-$200ish

If you send the PCM to me with a return postage bag included I can turn VATS off for you which will be the cost of PCM license only around $100.

PM if your interested

Thanks VX
I found another great member here who is local, very helpful. I dont know if he wants me to mention his name but you're quite welcome to join this thread if you like mate. :)
I now have the VATS turned off which is fantastic!
I have pulled off the actual ignition switch off the back of the ignition barrel so i can turn the switch with a screw driver.
All seems good but the dash shows an engine error, and i know there is a air temp sensor missing from the intake.
So when I turn on the ignition like i said engine error and some sort of dash alarm, i do the final turn of the switch and the engine kicks over for about 2 seconds (Starter motor turns on for 2 seconds) the engine "almost" starts/ignites then the starter just shuts off/engine no go.
Also dash alarm shows very low fuel even though i have put a few liters in it.
Im guessing the engine error is coming from the missing air temp sensor??
I thought the switch was stuffed so I "Hot wired" it with the same result, removed the switch placed link from red/white to purple permanent and red/white to orange and engine cranks almost starts then stops as described. Any help would be great

The low fuel warning usually points to the dash not communicating with the pcm, (sender runs via pcm to dash) often caused by the pcm not turning on - blown fuse or a faulty pcm...

The pictures you posted show no engine light indicating no response from pcm,

Hope that helps
