Check that the nvram is plugged fully in to the ecu memcal socket. Sometimes it can feel like its plugged in but only just making contact with the pins. Some can take a bit of force to get seated properly, bumps are then no problem!

Thanks VL400. I will definitely make sure its plugged in and seated this time around. Maybe it wasn't and the bump was enough to corrupt the NVRAM

generally if you arent actively tuning, its a good idea to take the RW pin off... makes it a lot more difficult to corrupt.

Thats pretty much right, but you can update 11p and 12p including code with the flashtool. The problem is that an operating system needs to be booted and running for the ecm/pcm to be visible on the aldl data bus. So once it has been corrupted and doesnt boot you need another way in.
