exhaust crackle on deceleration

still look for phsyical problems first, the fuel cut on deceleration is there for fuel economy reasons not exhaust crackling, most track cars would add fuel on deceleration to cool things and not have flat spot when back on the gas. That is why you see flames out the exhaust on touring cars (without the crackling) when they are on overun

Thanks for all the info everyone, I will have to wait a bit before I can test. My radiator has sprung a leak and on top of that my wideband is playing up I am not as concerned now that I know it is not going to hurt anything.
