Re: Help for the noob
Main thing to look at is the broadcast code (BCC) which is BWCU on the sticker on your ecu.
The memcal you have appears to be a VR V6 as the code starts with a 1U and not 1F as used on the v8's. If you plan on using this memcal on a V8 will need to modify the network resistors (NETRES) or you'll have problems with fuelling.

Re: Help for the noob
keep in mind that if your planning on running a v8 you cant use a tune with knock detection turned on with that 1U.... knock filter, even if you install a knock sensor. (probably not a problem, but keep it in mind depending on future plans). It would suit a v6, but it'd be benificial to know what was on it when it came out the factory (before the label was pulled off the window on the eprom). Missing label implys its been reprogrammed, so who knows whats on it there.
Im guessing you probably bought a 'v8 computer' off ebay and someones put a v8 tune on a v6 memcal and dropped it in. Better confirm its not a HSV tune cos of that knock sensor. I can see some extra solder under the knock board near the top right, so I guess they've hacked the netres for v8 allready.

Re: Help for the noob
Could also be a V8 memcal fitted with a V6 knock board. That solder is not factory. I know you all hate that but I run one and guess what no false knock. If anything benign to see knock.

Re: Help for the noob
haha yeah, no false knock is good, but if you also dont see real knock, might as well disable it because best case is same functionality as disabled.

Re: Help for the noob
I work on the basis of no false knock is good and any knock recording after that is great. I have 2 other cars which are 2L 4 cly and the calcs go so close and the logs I do look valid so I will still stick with using 6 cyl knock boards.

I would rather stick with the v8 knock boards
bit dodgy using v6 boards imo.
