Can a VS V8 ECU turn the low speed fan on?

Post by cringgle »

Hello

Can a VS V8 ECU turn the low speed fan ON through the BCM the same way a V6 ECU does?

The plan is to have the low speed fan operate in normal operating temps and have the high speed set up for overheat temps (like a V6).

Thanks

the settings are there in the tune for it to do it assuming all the wiring and such is connected correctly.

This feature is only in 11P, which can be used on a VS V8 auto .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3798

If its a manual then you cant control the fan via the BCM. The standard code and 12P does not have this feature.

But, a standard VS V8 bin (for both auto and manual) can control a second fan using a dedicated low speed fan output pin.

So if I were to use the output pin method, can the ECU earth the low speed fan relay the same way the BCM does? (the wire is already at the BCM, it needs to be extended to the ECU).

when we added a thermo fan to my mates VS V8 we simply installed another relay in the fuse box under the bonnet, then wired It into the correct ecm pin and off it went.
