L67/M90/4L60E/Landcruiser

Post by dadinabarrel »

Hi everyone

I'm putting an L67/M90/4L60E into my Landcruiser Troop Carrier (4.11 diffs, 32" wheels, 80 series transfer) The unit I have bought has done 162,000km and came out of a VT Calais (PCM 16233396)

I'm giving it:

Bearings/rings/hone/remove balance rod/double chain

1.9:1 rockers, roller lifters, HD pushrods, ARP head bolts, viton stem seals

Ported LIM, 25mm insulator, ported M90 outlet & inlet, oversize elbow, LS1 85mm TB, 4" SS inlet pipework to 9" K & N pod filter, MAP/MAT sensors instead of IAT/MAF, 10PSI boost pulley (can I go to 12psi with the spacer?)

HV ignition coils, 10.5mm leads, 225l/hr inline fuel pump, VT pump control module (do I need this?) new fuel pressure regulator, all new sensors

stock exhaust manifolds, twin 2.5" exhausts with high flow mufflers into high flow resonators (quiet with flow)

Strong, reliable, plenty in, plenty out

It looks like I need an ALDL with an NVRAM mod from pcmhacking.net

Will this allow me to tune for optimised 4L60E/2bar MAP/LIM & M90 porting/bigger throttle body & inlet/1.9 rockers/25mm spacer/10psi pulley ? Also how do I get around the GM anti theft so I can run all this in my Landcruiser?

Thanks, any help is really appreciated, once I'm sorted I'll put back in :driving:

Sounds like a good project! The Toyota die hards will probably have a heart attack seeing a L67 in a troopy.

The antitheft is the easy part, have you considered what PCM you will be using? If you are wanting to run a MAP sensor with boost and the 4L60E you have basically two choices - convert to a '424 PCM (VR auto V6/V8 and VS V8 auto) running 11P, or buy a Kalmaker MAFless setup for the VT PCM.

If you are keeping the VT PCM, then you probably want to also use the VT BCM. The reason being is controls a number of useful things - one of the engine cooling fans, gives you a CEL on the dash, the power/econ indicator on the dash, controls the A/C (if fitted) and as a bonus you could then also keep the antitheft and use the factory GM key.

Barry at Brushworks in Brisbane i offering to do me a custor tune of my PCM (PCM 162333396) to suit the big air in/out, 10psi and 1.9's with MAP and VATS removed for $1200. That's right at the limit of what's left in my budget.

What's 424 and 11P all about

11P is a custom operating system for the '424 PCM (found in VR auto V6/V8 and VS auto V8).

More info here .. http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=3798

If you are not doing your own tuning, then what PCM and software you use is really going to be up to your tuner.

Barry is a great guy and an awesome tuner. His l67 vs is a force to be reckoned with!!

I'm guessing you are giving up the 4wd?

Nope, running a Mark's adaptor on the back of the 4L60E onto my 80 series transfer case with a push button lock for the part time spool in the transfer with 75 series free wheeling hubs.

2wd drive around town, 4wd when I'm in the wild :-)
