High energy coil used in older commodore vn onwards had medium energy coil.

never knew that, most i've seen all have HEC!

but just a bit more clarification, yes the PFI VN-VT commodores use the bosch MEC coils, I've had ignition system problems before when I used to fit the HEC coil thinking it was a good upgrade, I later learned installing the HEC was the cause of the problems from nuclear power modules on ebay, I now run one of his "upgraded" modules with the HEC coils along with a extra earth wire added to the main body of the module to the alternator bracket, many years later and not one single issue.

also good practice if you do have ignition problems and put a new module in is to install a new coil at the same time
