a friend of mine is running this big stepper motor box with a speedo cable output... fully calbiratable and drives your factory dash speedo cable. pretty dear tho, at a few hundred bucks.

what are the two plates to the right of the sump for ?
Yeah might pull the guts out of the new speedo and fit it into the gem cluster (somehow)

The plates are part of the engine mounts

HQ355 recently done something similair with the VN speedo drive on the standard HQ mechanical drive for the needle. Well worth looking into.

engine and box is mounted up
No cutting the trans tunnel, just had to cut the lift tabs off the sides of the box and a little tap around the passenger side to clear the selector shaft

Only some dummy up pics
This was before and hammering was done, engine had to go back 40mm
but as you can see there's a massive amount of room around the trans

Looks good, no problem with room around the back of the block.
Much room at the front?

Heaps of room around the engine, just tight around the passenger side of the trans

hard to tell from that angle but it looks like the engine is further forward than firebugs.
