Re: VS Commodore Air bag light stuck on.
Just did some more playing this time on my modified car running 12P. It see all the data and I can operate the IAC, reset blocks (I assume that's the block learn) and again I love the feature being able to change the air/fuel ratio on a running engine. I found the car responded to quiet a bit more fuel when warming up so a bit more tuning required. It did however throw up a lot of codes like transmission etc but that may have something to do with my program settings I don't know. If there's anything you want me to see if it can do please ask. I only have a VRV8 for testing unless a customer needs a service.

I wonder why it throws a transmission code on a vehicle running 12P.

Well I suppose it's not designed to even know 12P so what it can do is a bonus for me.

Re: VS Commodore Air bag light stuck on.
Just an update. I decided to try the Autel MD802 on 12P and I got the same list of fault codes. I also tried to look at the BCM (car doesn't have one) and it showed a stop lamp failure. This is interesting because on the VR that same code came up and cannot be erased and I assumed it did have a bulb out but now I am becoming a bit suspicious.
Re: VS Commodore Air bag light stuck on.
I would be concerned that the tools are throwing false positives. Throwing a transmission code when the car doesn't have an electronic transmission says to me the tool is not reading the signals correctly or it simply has not been programmed correctly.

My concern is that exactly the same info is with booth scan tools. Who really wrote the software? or is because it's 12P and not reading the right data?
Re: VS Commodore Air bag light stuck on.
If you use a std vr auto/manual adx file with $12p not all data is correct , $12p uses slightly different aldl data format to std $12 code

I figured it was something like that but my concern is who's software is it? Even the way you select the model is expressed (-U) -1996 is exactly the same in both scantools as well as this stop light failure code in both scantools.

Hmm.. anyone got wiring diagrams for the airbag system?
Havent found any wiring diagrams for anything other than the ECU!
Trying to wire up ABS, BCM, ECU and SRS on the bench. Put this Tech1 to good use.
