Need to replace a GM 10 bolt diff centre due to wear and wrong ratio for modified engine. It's in a '87 Chevy Camaro, but the car is in Australia.
It is a 26 spline LSD, and probably from Eaton or Auburn not really sure. Currently 2.73:1 wants replacing with 3.08:1 or numerically higher (say up to about 3.73:1).
The 26 splines go up to 1988 in the Chevs where they went to 28 spline. The axles are "C clip" type... I guess I could change them to 28 spline if there are any Holdens with the correct lengths.
I believe the Holden VL turbo, and VN, NS, VR, VP (non IRS) models have 28 spline axles but not sure if it's a 10 bolt in there?
I could easily get one from the US...
I thought of cutting the centre housing out of something and weld it in place but there's a mounting point fo the torsion bar (that goes all the way to the transmission) cast as part of the Camaro housing.
Other options are replace it with a Ford 9" or a GM 12 bolt, or build it up stronger using a Zexel Torsen Heavy Duty centre, replace crush sleeve with a solid bearing spacer, Zytanium cross pin, fully welded axle tubes, etc like this guy suggests http://www.thirdgen.org/beefinguprear
Disc brakes on the rear is also in the pipeline, any Holdens have rear discs with "C clip" axles?
I'd rather keep it simple and get another centre that will bolt straight in. A second hand one will do for the moment just to test the ratio out.
Is there a list of Holden differentials somewhere, to do a cross reference and find one locally, I mean in Australia?
Suggestions and respnses to any of the above questions are welcome ?

have a read of this:

you probably would be best of identifying the brand and type of diff, then do some searching on that, or call a diff shop and ask what options you have.

I've already done the preliminaries that you suggested, there are a few options. It's now a matter of sourcing what's available locally see what I can make out of it all - or just get a new centre from the US.
Re: Camaro & Holden LSD Differentials
The later Commodores you mentioned have Borg Warner 75 diffs which the US guys call a 9 bolt. No Holdens had C clip axles.
If you want to keep it bolt on/in and are otherwise happy with what you have then definitely the easiest option is to buy something from the US, probably cheaper too.
If you go down the path of a conversion I'd be looking at VN-VS Commodores to see if they are close to the same width, these are not a bad diff (I believe some Camaros had them too) and most parts are cheap and plentiful including disc brakes. Otherwise 9"/12 bolt.
