They go by many names, P01, P59, VPW, '0411 etc. Also covering E38 and newer here.

Trouble reading ecu and also LS droid ??

Post by Sudsy »

G'day all,

I am having trouble reading my ecu's. I know that 2 of them have had a tune so are most likely locked. They have OS 1271001. The other i thought was stock but can't read it either and OS is 9381344. I can't find any reference to that number so can only assume that it has been tuned and locked also.

Second question is i can't get LS Droid to work on my Win 8.1 laptop and can't find a decent download link to download it again. I also can't un install it for some reason.
Any ideas?

Cheers

I dont know anything about lsdroid, but have you tried pcmhammer? If they are locked you can short a couple of pins to put it in to recovery mode and get a read.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

The 1271001 OsID is a HP Tuners Custom OS, they can be read if you know the security Key, OsID 9381344 is a valid P01 OsID ...

As for tuner locked PCM's, the security Key can easily and fairly quickly be found using Universal Patcher and the Attached script.
Once you have the security Key, you can use PCM Hammer's User Defined Key menu option to unlock the PCM's.

Yes i have tried PCM Hammer. It will tell me the Vin and serial no but can't open. I don't know about the shorting of the pins . To be clear on that i have seen a video that it is mentioned but not sure what it does to the data on the ecu.

I will try and read it with Universal patcher and see what it does.

Thank you for your replies. I did manage to get LS Droid working on my desktop with Win 10 but still no go on the laptop with Win 8.1. Not sure if this was due to transferring the file from desktop to laptop via USB or something else. I will keep trying different things. Thanks again

Gampy i have no idea what that file does or how to use it unfortunately.

I have a factory ecu that i did read the bin file as far as i know because it did save it but unfortunately i can't open that for some reason either. Have tried LS Droid, PCM hammer and universal patcher but no luck. I think i must be just jinxed with ecu's and software i think

This is what i get with PCM hammer. To my knowledge this ECU is unlocked standard. Not sure which one is the OS number on the tag. I have service No: 09354896 Then CYCB. Next line i have Vin which is correct then 09379551. Next line is HDW No 16220670. This is out of a manual holden commodore.
Also by shorting the pins on my other ecu that is locked does that just cancel the tune or does it wipe everything and have to do the lot to get it working again? Sorry for all the questions but i'm new to this and an old geriatric so a bit slow on the uptake.
Thanks for your patience

Any help would be appreciated

That Service Number is from a P01 PCM, the 09379551 number is a valid Calibration number (End Item Number), I do not recognize the HDW No 16220670.

It does NO harm, it just causes a glitch during the security process therefore bypassing security.
However you must solve the following issue first ...

Shows there is NO communication at all with the PCM ... Although the VCI is able to read the vehicles battery voltage, there is NO data connection.

Looks like either a dead PCM, bad wiring or faulty VCI!

If you're doing this on the bench, ensure your harness is wired as per the following schematic,

Well looks like i may have cooked the ecu. I bought a bench harness with the small power supply which may have been the original problem so i diconnected that and ran 2 wires to a bench power supply to the original ones. Red to red black to black. I should have checked with the diagram but the chinese harness had black as + and red as -. My fkup but am pissed off. Anyone know what gets damaged with reverse polarity in these ecu's? Would have thought that there would be some sort of diode protection in there but i can't get it to connect unfortunately.
