Re: VR Ute

These are the heads. Nothing special. Stock valves, single springs with a damper to suit the cam, standard seals, mild CNC porting. Chambers should be close to 62-63cc still. No idea how much has been milled off them, but all I asked for was to keep it as close to the stock chamber cc as possible. T...

Re: VR Ute

Block has been bored 0.020” and I asked for minimal decking just clean it up. I’m told the deck was tapered by 0.002” and needed 0.003” off one end and 0.005” off the other end to square it up so happy with that. I’m not a fan of milling millimetres off the block to raise compression so just wanted ...

Re: VR Ute

One of those units might even go close to fitting where the speed alert goes - another option. But its engine time – or getting ready for it. I hate how those engine stands on wheels scoot all over the floor when you’re trying to torque something up. And they all have the potential to topple over. I...

Re: VR Ute

Spent a bit of time looking at those Bluetooth FM transmitters and the one you linked looks to be a decent option and won’t look too out of place – thanks for the tip. The radio does have a AUX socket so could connect a phone up through that for music, but that transmitter should allow for hands fre...

Re: VR Ute

Having said how much I hate drilling holes, I have drilled some holes. These are hidden though. These are the brackets to support the extended fuel tank. Fuel Tank Brackets.JPG There's a limit to how much of the interior can be sensibly done before paint. But the back wall is covered in stretch carp...

Re: VR Ute

I hate drilling holes too and on a VR VS there’s 6 bolts on the strut tower to choose from to mount a bracket. VN VP you only have the 3 bolts don’t you? All I did was just trace out a bit of paper to match the strut top then cut it out of a piece of 2mm flat sheet. It just sits on the nuts to space...

Re: VR Ute

Thanks Gareth. I should give a special mention to my helper in the shed. She relies heavily on her looks and is pretty much useless except in the rare situation there’s an emergency requiring a tennis ball at your feet. Her only real job as she sees it is to prevent Star Track driver making any deli...

VR Ute

So I have started a bit of a project on a VR ute. Picked it up a while back and it was pretty rough but luckily it didn’t pick it up cheap as I hate a bargain. Owner was adamant it was a HSV cause it had a HSV badge on the dash. But you can buy those badges on ebay. Also had HSV wheels, but you can ...

Re: VY One Tonner

Not sure you can run an additive with a True Trac or Torque Lock. Whether an additive affects them I know not, but Eaton says don't do it. They also advise against using a synthetic oil. I thought the later Crewmans also had some trickery with the diff housing as well to stop axle tramp. Gareth does...

Re: VY One Tonner

Haven’t experienced the axle tramp yet, but might not be enough weight over the back for that to happen in a one tonner – all I get is a bit of wheel slip. Anyway Landrover drivers are a bit like vegans, and I will be hearing about being rescued by a Landrover for decades to come. Its still raining ...
