Re: VR Ute

I just see a lot of people fitting them backwards and getting absolutely roasted for it. Usually by someone who has no doubt made the same mistake themselves.
The car could be absolutely immaculate, but if the engine covers are on backwards...

Re: VR Ute

I had deburred the oil pump gallery inlet and did minor clean-up of the valley before I sent it off for machining. The metal is pretty soft and cleans up really easily. I didn’t go too crazy, just took off the casting dags. You see some go to the trouble of polishing the valley, but I am not sure th...

Re: vr 304 auto iac and tps issue

Are there any DTCs logged?
The TPS voltage throttle closed seems a little high at 2 volts. The TPS is not one of the ones with the plastic cover on the end is it and its missing?

Can you connect up with Tunerpro and watch the TPS move from open to closed?

Re: VR Ute

I believe some aluminium parts can be damaged. In saying that, I have never had to clean a great deal of alloy parts but the ones I have turned out fine. Basically a few motor bike carbies, rocker covers, timing covers etc. But I don’t leave them in there that long, and I don’t use vinegar, just a b...

Re: VR Ute

Truck Wash.JPG This is the stuff we use, but it’s the same as CT18. We also have a Citra Force and a heavy duty water based degreaser, but find the truck wash or vinegar to be the best – I’m sure there’s other options out there but these are all non flammable which I think is important in any works...

Re: VR Ute

These are the heads. Nothing special. Stock valves, single springs with a damper to suit the cam, standard seals, mild CNC porting. Chambers should be close to 62-63cc still. No idea how much has been milled off them, but all I asked for was to keep it as close to the stock chamber cc as possible. T...

Re: VR Ute

Block has been bored 0.020” and I asked for minimal decking just clean it up. I’m told the deck was tapered by 0.002” and needed 0.003” off one end and 0.005” off the other end to square it up so happy with that. I’m not a fan of milling millimetres off the block to raise compression so just wanted ...

Re: VR Ute

One of those units might even go close to fitting where the speed alert goes - another option. But its engine time – or getting ready for it. I hate how those engine stands on wheels scoot all over the floor when you’re trying to torque something up. And they all have the potential to topple over. I...

Re: VR Ute

Spent a bit of time looking at those Bluetooth FM transmitters and the one you linked looks to be a decent option and won’t look too out of place – thanks for the tip. The radio does have a AUX socket so could connect a phone up through that for music, but that transmitter should allow for hands fre...

Re: VR Ute

Having said how much I hate drilling holes, I have drilled some holes. These are hidden though. These are the brackets to support the extended fuel tank. Fuel Tank Brackets.JPG There's a limit to how much of the interior can be sensibly done before paint. But the back wall is covered in stretch carp...
