Re: Low points in Ve table graph.

I would have gone straight to the Mahle pistons, you honestly can't go wrong with them and lowering comp is always easier than trying to raise it with big dish pistons that are OEM. With the heads left un-milled other than the min for surface, those larger CNC chambers, I would have guessed a comp o...

Re: Low points in Ve table graph.

My other mild hot engine's torque curve is wavy as hell, this stock engine is very smooth in the curve by comparison. The hot engine has a 109 LSA and a decent amount of overlap which all make the curves go wonky and the centerline is 114 or there abouts. Only 212 duration and 470 lift, but makes ab...

Re: Low points in Ve table graph.

They are nice heads indeed! I'm always jealous of you NZ guys, you always have all the good engine stuff and companies and have good support for the Buick. Over here, if it ain't LS or Barra, they aren't interested in helping you most of the time. Given the rpm range of the cam, I would say the 280 ...

Re: Low points in Ve table graph.

Here is the Formula VE that I ported to 12P some years ago from an original BIN from the series. just FYI, despite common saying that peak VE = peak torque, it's a myth. I found on the dyno it to almost always be untrue. Yes, sometimes the torque curve can have a similar shape to the VE, I found mos...

Re: Low points in Ve table graph.

Damn! those heads are mint! I've never seen CNC Buick heads before, are you able to share the info on them? As for the VE, that's pretty normal on these with big cams, the bigger the durations, that more you get these double peaks. It's from the intake/exhaust coming in and out of resonance at certa...

Re: VR Ute

I agree about those engine building practices. I also opted for the smallest over size pistons I could find. 20 thou was the smallest, and in my case I would have liked maybe 5 thou as the Buicks very rarely wear much past the standard size and just need some correcting from the factory tolerances a...

Re: VR Ute

The factory panels on these are a high quality steel with much better stiffness and spring, much lower corrosion and they could make them much thinner as a result and lighten the vehicle while adding safety and stiffness at the same time to get a similar net weight to stuff that was made in the deca...

Re: 12P voltage compensation vs batery voltage

I am pretty sure this is the voltage drop offsets for the ECU vs what is actually at the battery, so that it can apply that offset to the other offsets, that's my understanding of it anyway. This one is to be left stock as it's setup at factory, so unless you're wiring in the ECU and battery locatio...

Re: Can't find a large ID concentric slave, do they even exist?

Looking at seeing if Dellow do a conversion kit, they do one for the Hilux with the same gearbox and as far as I can see, their kit doesn't extent the shaft, rather a whole new bell housing and clutch to suit the Toyota box and fork setup. The current setup, the engine is only about 50mm from the ra...

Re: Can't find a large ID concentric slave, do they even exist?

That's basically the same bs conversion, Mark's 4x4 one. They simply don't work as intended. The bearing mounts to a big steel tube that slides in and out of a webbing cast into the bellhousing/adapter housing. It always jams, gets dust and crap in it, jams again and the bearing flops around. I had ...
