Re: Cold start idle tuning
The part I cant get my head around is if the target AFR is 14.7 the ecu uses the narrow band o2 sensor to adjust fueling to achieve this AFR (closed loop) Any other AFR eg: 13.1 the computer has to guess how much fuel to add to achieve this AFR as it has no sensor to tell the ecu that the engine is ...

Re: Cold start idle tuning
First of all I just wanted to thank everyone that has been giving me advice on this post. The more input I get the more I can try and understand the brains behind the ecu and its programing. I made the modifications that Holden202t suggested to both the tables and then recorded another log. But I go...

Re: Cold start idle tuning
I hope this does not sound like a silly question but what controls or changes the fuel amount when the target is not 14.7? I know at 14.7 the engine can go into closed loop and then ecu uses the o2 sensor to keep the engine at 14.7. This seems to be the only time I see the target AFR and the wideban...

Re: Cold start idle tuning
Just checked the log again. Before the engine was started the coolant was 26.8 and MAT was 27.5 so I guess they are both ok. Just seemed strange to me that at the 30 sec point in the log the coolant is at 27.5 and MAT at 40.3 Also what tables do I have to adjust to get the warm up A/F ratio closer t...

Re: Cold start idle tuning
Sorry i should have explained it a little more. The log file I uploaded is from this morning when it was about 26deg outside and the bonnet open. All I did was start the engine and then let it idle until it got to operating temp then switched it off. It was the first time I started the engine today....

Re: Cold start idle tuning
Its a stock manifold with a pod filter setup where the airbox used to be. The MAT sensor is in the original spot. So the weird MAT sensor reading are not really affecting the A/F ratio from cold to operating temp? What offset tables should I look for and Im guessing make small changes and retest onc...

Cold start idle tuning
Hello all, I think I am starting to get my head around tuning the idle on my VN 5L. The only problem I have is when I start the engine from cold the A/F seems a little lean but once it warms up to operating temperature it runs a little on the rich side. The engine itself runs fairly smooth taking in...

Re: W.T.B VP V8 memcal with knock board
If you get stuck finding a V8 knock filter let me know. When the workshops open back up after the holidays I can find out for you if I can get more. From what I gathered talking to him last he had a couple more.
