Re: Advice? Tacho adapter - 2v square wave -> coil signal ta

the last one I made, I tore off the cover for the relay, and put the transistor and resistor inside the casing, then put the lid back on and glued. makes for a nice neat enclosed unit. as long as you remember its not really a relay anymore :P I plan on putting it inside the relay casing at some poi...

Re: Advice? Tacho adapter - 2v square wave -> coil signal ta

Finally got it working - the main problem was - I was using the wrong source wire all along. The actual wire color used was different to the one stated in manual. Anyways the cheapo oscilloscope (~20Eur) came in handy. Found the signal in the same connector, but different wire. http://i60.tinypic.co...

Re: Advice? Tacho adapter - 2v square wave -> coil signal ta

I connected a multimeter (finally  ) and it gives ~12v. Will wait for the scope and check the signal to be sure what I'm working with.

Re: Alfa Romeo Motronic XDFs

Nice work  I vaguely recall helping dump a bin off one of these ECUs a few years ago (I found the thread - see http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2327) so now that you have the comms side working you should be able to install Tuner Pro RT and my MotronicPlugin, load a M1...

Re: Alfa Romeo Motronic XDFs

I think the problem might be exacerbated by the fast switching lambda (I'm using a WB with NB simulation). The old original NB lambda seems to be dead, as it constantly reports 433 mV, although the WB is constantly changing the reported lambda around 1.0 mark +/- 0.15 at idle (and the simulated NB v...

Re: Alfa Romeo Motronic XDFs

dont know anything about motronic stuff.... but with any injection system, if you put 20% bigger injectors in it, then it is putting 20% more fuel into your engine, everywhere, throwing out the whole tune... you need to wind the base injector rate back 20% to get back to where you were with the old...

Re: Alfa Romeo Motronic XDFs

btw. could it be a side effect of bigger injectors (+~20%), that the engine is oscillating at idle rpm?

Re: Advice? Tacho adapter - 2v square wave -> coil signal ta

Are you sure it's 2v? I would have expected a 5v pulse Ah - crap - you're right. The 2V/20ms is oscilloscope recommended settings, not actual voltage of signal... For the signal itself it says just 30Hz @ idle (900rpm). And this is the signal that should be there (if the scale is right... it should...

Re: Advice? Tacho adapter - 2v square wave -> coil signal ta

Built the tacho booster yesterday, but it doesn't seem to work. Don't have a scope yet to check what's going on exactly. I used a 1N4007 diode, 2N4401 NPN transistor,a 2K2 resistor and a generic automotive relay as a coil. could it be that the 2V signal is too low to switch the transistor through th...

Re: Alfa Romeo Motronic XDFs

I'd replace the stock NB with the WB, and use the simulated NB for the ECU's closed loop. The datalogging with the stock bin is *very* limited - it will only work below 2000 rpm, and you can only request 1 value at a time. My modified bin will allow datalogging at any engine speed, and sends multip...
