Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

No the charts look OK to me too but I know little about what it SHOULD look like. Thats right, its holding revs when moving which makes it a total pain to drive, im waiting like 2+ seconds for it to be at the correct range for a smooth shift. Yeah the video of the "driveway drive" is not g...

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

Theres a couple of vids too which show what I mean. You can see in the "idle rev" one that the hang point actually increases if I stab the throttle before it drops right back. The driving one is really slow speed obviously, but you can see what it does. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AodQnnnWCBvbvGJF...

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

Yeah its always done it. It was unregistered when I bought it so I didnt drive it prior to starting resto work. (which was body and suspension, not engine) It does it hot or cold but its particularly slow to drop the revs off when cold. (when coming to a stop for example) No worries, ill start plugg...

Re: EFI Live 4, ALDL, developing "definition"

Nah it was created by a Niva enthusiast, David Rolston. Im guess to direct this thread a bit, im not interested in mods at present, I just want to learn a bit more about how these definitions are developed. Namely, how can you see the commands and data that this ECU uses? Using the timing advance fi...

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

Not on this unit, extending the IAC is the process used to set the minimum air - http://www.gmtuners.com/tech/TPS_IAC.htm
That link says 650 rpm so I figure 600 is pretty damn close.

If extending it stalled the vehicle then how would you set the minimum air.

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

I disagree, how would the idle be "factory stock minimum" correct if there was a vac leak? (genuine question, not being a dick) Do you mean it only leaks under driving conditions? Ive plugged the booster port and nothing changed. Yep at a cool idle steps are mid 30's. Warm idle its around ...

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

I think youre right above the IAC pintle being way out, I just dont know why it is doing that.
I have not done much with the EGR yet but nothing seems amiss at first look.

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

My test to rule out vaccum leaks (aside from obvious manual checks with propane) was the extend the IAC pintle (it does this in "field mode") and pull the plug. The car then idled well and at a low 600rpm idle. This seems normal to me. The idle speed screw is still capped so I know if hasn...

Re: Troubleshooting a running issue, TBI system.

Thanks mate. So this is a Lada Niva, erase your bias at that point and understand that its a 1700cc 4 cyl which runs a Rochester 700 series TBI (Central, single injector) and a GM ECU. :D Ive attached the wiring diagram so you can see which sensors it runs. The issue is basically that it h...
