Re: Gm crank trigger wheel

Who knows, I mentioned earlier that GM went away from it from there next model onwards. I believe it was GM's first release with the coil per cylinder set up. Maybe it was a safer option. The sensor must have some logic in it or maybe it's just a hi / low internal measurement to ensure it's reading ...

Re: Gm crank trigger wheel

If the cam signal is missing it will run in batch mode.
Which really is not the biggest deal if it's like this. Sequential would be ideal though all the same.

Re: Gm crank trigger wheel

It has to be the same as OEM.
Either aftermarket with single row wheel and aftermarket sensor.
Or OEM wheel and OEM sensor.

Outside of that you'll need to go a different ECU.

Re: Gm crank trigger wheel

It's an OEM pattern not an aftermarket. Prior to this was some similar patterns on other models with long and short spacings. The two rows are offset and the OEM sensor measures both and expects a certain amount of offset and then outputs a single output to the ECU if all is ok. I believe the later ...

Re: Newbie old fart

A VR sensor will not work with that ECU.

Re: Newbie old fart

I briefly answered above. I'll go further. You need to keep the standard but unique 24 tooth pattern. If you use the factory dual wheel, you'll need the OEM sensor as well well. You can get aftermarkets single wheels and sensors to adapt to the Toyota crankshaft. That's the best way then you will ha...

Re: Newbie old fart

An option is to fit a aftermarket single row LS1 timing wheel.
I don't recall the KS crank angle sensor polarity off hand.

Another less desirable option could be to go the Low Res mode option in the ECU. Have a Google of that and see.
