Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

Right. It seems like using a different ECU with a standalone configuration might be possible, but using one to retain all the stock integrations (gauges, traction control, etc.) is more unlikely. I have no idea whether my immobilizer is communicating on high or low, or talking through the BCM (I sus...

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

OK, status update over here: I got job 1 done: I got a reman e55 from ac delco/rockauto and managed to program it using tis / tech2 passthrough. Car is running again. I still want to replace the e55 with e77, or possibly some Delco instead of Bosch. I'll take advice on whether it's possible, advisab...

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

OK, this is really interesting, vn5000! I used ACDelcoDTS' online subscription (40 USD for 2 years, covering one VIN) and managed to program a fresh ACDelco-remanufactured e55. I was using win10 laptop->USB ftdi->tech2 clone->Candi->OBD2 port. What made it work after all my failed attempts? I change...

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

Tech2 isn't the best tool for the job, infact, I don't think it can actually do the job anymore, programming speed is too slow? Not sure, anyway I used to use Tech2 back in the day but started having programming failures after MDI was released. I brought a Drewtech Cardaq pass thru, Fixed all my pr...

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

You guys are fantastic. My plan is like this: job 1: get a working replacement ECU programmed. need to get the car back up and running. job 2: I have a friend with a microscope who does SMT soldering regularly. have him repair two or three of the ECU I have here already (dependent on whether I have ...

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

Thank you both.

Soldering jumper wires to repair broken PCB was something I used to do on Walkmen tape players when I was younger. Any tips on whether or not I need a bench harness to program if I can repair this at all?

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

I have 2 here that were repaired by injectronics couple of burnt components have been replaced in one by soldering in new ones. They die from water ingress into the plugs corroding the pins plus heat and vibration damaging the tiny laser welded wires inside and obviously the odd burnt up resistor i...

Re: Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

Never looked at converting to another PCM but they die here in our Commodore with LY7 all the time too, best option for long term solution is to replace with new. This is really helpful to know. Which ones do your ly7 come with? Mine is a two connector (e55 I think?) staggered on opposite sides of ...

Bosch LY7 (VE style) to Delco?

I have a US 2005 Cadillac CTS with the LY7 V6 similar to VE. These cars are renowned for killing the Bosch ECM. Is it possible to convert it to a Delco ECU and retain the cluster / BCM features like cruise control, traction control, coolant temp, fuel gauge? My first one died in a way where jumping ...
