Have you verified that you have 12v at the injectors? Should show a constant 12v when key on.

Should be powered off the engine control ignition relay and 2 separate 20 amp fuses. You can bypass all this for a quick test and provide a constant 12v to the purple/blue wire on the engine harness.

I might be able to get a p12 as soon as tomorrow for testing, don't have a vehicle to test it in but can power it on the bench and potentially make a good door stop out of it

I picked up another 2010+ e38 today and attempted to change the vin with the tool. It worked again, I was able to change the vin to the one I needed. Cycled ignition power, waited 30 seconds. New vin had been stored. Attempted to change the vin back to what it was. Same error as before. So not sure ...
