The nice thing about storing values in RAM is that you can watch them with a data logger.
Sometimes that's helpful for debugging, sometimes it's helpful for tuning.
If you don't see it being useful in either case, then the stack is probably better.

I do like to tinker, but the nearest E85 station is 30 minutes away. So that's probably the only thing that I won't be tinkering with.

Apparently I really need to do some testing. This kind of thing should just work. The fact that it doesn't suggests that I've screwed something up somewhere.
