Re: Interesting youtube video's...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow4jldkybEY The engineering at NASA and all their associated contractors is truly like alien technology compared to what we have here in the public. These tools would be to ensure characterised and known reliability for all their spacecraft wiring which ensure the be...

https://youtu.be/DJDDlAkyHfc?si=zVNA1SwCVrfFkYiv Something you'd considered Gareth? I thought that was very interesting and is something I have thought about before as good ABS is very nice to have when you push your braking hard. EDIT: Can't get the youtube embed to work. Antus, is there a way to g...

Re: VY One Tonner

Probably a oscillation/resonance with the leaf spring rear end. I know every single ute/wagon both Ford and Holden that used leaf springs axle tramp something shocking and worse so when sticky tyres were used. One of my work colleagues from years ago had a Boss Ford BF ute with Nitto tyres, pulling ...

Re: Muggy high humidity days significantly improves performance - But how?

I wonder if your timing is too far advanced, and the humidity plus reduced oxygen is bringing your timing closer to optimal? Perfectly valid logic which I also glanced over but since they have been tuned on the dyno, they are on the optimal timing. VR MBT at WOT peaks at 27, nearly 28 deg with 9:1 ...

Re: Muggy high humidity days significantly improves performance - But how?

I found this. Still suggests a reduction with high humidity, but there is a decrease in internal EGR and intake pressures also increase with humidity, but peak pressure of combustion and it's timing significantly slows down and retards. These engines are quite knock limited, so perhaps the high humi...

Re: Muggy high humidity days significantly improves performance - But how?

All valid points, but all of these other's have mentioned are counter to what physics are saying to the best of my understanding. The point on combustion speed might be the best explanation, but it doesn't make sense if the engine is already tuned at MBT in more typical conditions. The cooling effec...

Muggy high humidity days significantly improves performance - But how?

As per title, why and how can a muggy warm and very humid day cause a significant uplift in performance above baseline, more so than cold winter days? This is something I instantly noticed during the last year or two over summer and the warmer months as we have had 2 years of wet and warm summers wh...

Re: Cold and hot idle setting strategy ?

I'm not entirely sure, it sounds like that option is turned off by default, hence the cells all having 50%.

I assume you'd need to match them or better yet, tune them to those cells when that table is active. I have not used this option before and so far never needed it.

Re: Ecotec V6 Dry sump

It's a shame Ross got bought out all those years ago and stopped making dampers outside primarily the JDM market.

Re: Cold and hot idle setting strategy ?

Sounds like excellent progress  A cam of that size, even ones smaller than that sound rough at idle, but as soon as you bring even a little speed into it, they smooth out. Completely normal behaviour. When the duration goes up and overlap increases, low air speed conditions like idle, the p...
