ALDL display

Post by GONZO »

Hi guys, had a look at making one of these ALDL displays http://www.kolumbus.fi/juha.niinikoski/ ... ldl160.htm a few years ago. Just wondering if anyone has seen it before?

Would it be able to be modified to view 8192 baud ALDL data? Just a thought.

i cant see why not, one of the spare I/O lines would need to be configured in software as an output, and then the aldl hardware built more along the lines of an bi-directional 8192 baud interface.. then the software would need to be modified for 8192 instead of 160 and as general I/O pins are used not a real uart, a software modem implementation would need to be added. Come to think of it, It might be easyer to replace the pic processor with a different one that does have a modem.. but yeah it could be done. It'd need to send the request packets and then read the replys.
