HELP WITH A code 33 PROBLEM

Post by 89celebrity »

I Have a code 33 that appears only at low rpm. As I drive it goes away. I have changed map, IAC and replaced all vac hoses. Could someone look at my tunner pro log and see if something sticks out. :study:
Thanks in advance

umm, so what is the car, what computer is it and what adx are you using to login this data ?

my info shows that as a map sensor high .... ie. vacuum leak or wiring issue....

the fact it goes away probably means the engine is idling with much less vacuum but also could be a leak.....

Thanks for the recommendations. I plugged all the vacuum lines except the Egr and MAP. Since it's a old car 1986 chevy 2.5, I thought made the lines inside are bad. No change. I will get a new TPS and try that. Will post results

Thanks

Got new tps, but same problem. Did a log on tp5. To a rookie like me, it seems to be backwards. when the rpm go up, the tps goes down. Here is a log of the cold start.

Also tried another map but still with same problem. I also noticed that the map has no vacuum at idle. shouldn't it be more vac at idle and less at higher RPM :?

looks to me like the problem is map sensor. its possibly intermittent. in the second log its working when you first start the car but near the end it goes straight to 100kpa and stays there even tho its idling. if you had have left it running a bit longer you would have seen the code set and the MAP reading go to a default reading. in the first log you can see it starts up and stays at 100kpa, and flicks to the default reeading for the whole log.
itll either be sensor, pipe to the sensor, or wiring. most likely loose of broken wiring given its dropping in and out.

Thanks for looking at the log for me Jayme. I am thinking wiring because I have a new tube on the map and this is the second one from the store. How did you come up with the 100KPA. Could you please tell me where to look for that. Another question is, shouldn't I have vacuum at idle on the map tube?

I agree there is a problem with the MAP. Its def. thrown that DTC 33 which is MAP, and its going to be running very poorly with that error.

When you view the monitors view and add map load the scale is listed as KPA. But as the DTC is active Im not sure you can trust the load, only the volts. There is something on that wire (eg its not just pegged at some voltage) but it doesnt look right.

Yes you should see vacuum on the MAP at idle. I would guess that your actual map sensor is faulty.
