Drivers

Post by Maxxx »

I'm a newbie to this. I've been reading as much as I can and I bought an ALDL cable from Antus and picked up a laptop today. I have tunerpro as well. When I plug the cable into the laptop it shows up in the device but says there are no drivers, is there a place to download drivers? I'm using an HP ProBook with windows 7 os

Yes they are the correct ones. But if you let it connect to the net it should be able to pull them down automatically from microsoft under windows 7.

Thanks for the replies. I've been hooked up to the internet the whole time and the drivers won't update that way. I installed FTDI driver 2.08.14 and now my ports have disappeared from my device manager list. I do have an "unknown device that shows up in my usb list but tunerpro still says that the cable is not connected

I have also tried hooking the cable up to a pc running xp and it can't find drivers for the cable on it either.

Where did you get 2.08.14 from? Thats quite an old release. The current version is 2.08.30 from the above link. Try installing that. That should supersede 2.08.14 and overwrite it. There is also a VCP mode for the driver that should be turned on buried in its preferences but this is default setting, so you should not need to manually touch it.

Hi Ant I found the 2.08.14 driver on another site and that site had said it was a better driver to use. The cable is now working and so is the windows updater. The updater was turned off and that's why the computer wasn't updating the driver automatically. Thank you and The1 for your help! Now I can try to do some data logging.

Yes, 2.08.14 is the one that works with the bad clone ftdi chips that are in circulation. But the chips in our products are genuine from FTDI so up to date genuine drivers are recommend and work fine.
