I know they line up pin to pin but don't want to prick into coloured wires to check if I don't have to as the wires are that thin any damage means they won't last long!

I was hoping someone had played with enough male to female cables enough to have a reasonable starting point to know which wires to cut!

It was posted earlier what wires you need but I will add it again here, its also in the supplied PDF what each pin does. As also said by antus forget the colours, go by RS232 pinouts.

On the logger the functions you need are...
Pin 2 - RS232 Rx
Pin 3 - RS232 Tx
Pin 5 - Ground
Pin 6 - +12V

Power the logger via USB initially to take away some confusion. Make a cable with only the following as the Kalmaker RS232 board is unknown (if you used an original delcohacking board it just requires a jumper connected and a standard off the shelf RS232 cable)...
Pin 2 of the logger to pin 2 of the PCM DB9
Pin 3 of the logger to pin 3 of the PCM DB9
Pin 5 of the logger to pin 5 of the PCM DB9

If that works then you can try and macgyver up a 12V cable.

Yeah I knew all that, not to sound appreciative sorry!

But yeah trying to macgvyer up a cable without ruining 1 in the mean time as I only have 1 spare, but that's ok if they don't have a color standard/average at all I will try the pierce approach & hope it doesn't damage the wires!

Those cables can be a PITA to splice but with a little care/patience (which I tend to lack) it can be done.

So the winner is this google image...

9-pin-UC-Cable-Pinout_color

I just cut all wires except for 2,3,5 & 6 & didn't power up so I used my adapter & powered up & connected fine (without even changing settings in ADX).
So knowing pin6 wasn't carrying 12v I cut it & then tested all the other cut wires for 12v but no luck from kalmaker plug end!

The loser is ME, even with direct connection to PCM it still needs power switched off for 8 seconds before it can re-connect so all that work was for no real gain, I guess at least I can log the PCM's now that don't have normal connector wired under dash!

Has anybody used a thermo couple with the logger?

Thinking about having a play with some nitrous and as I understand it when using nitrous it tends to throw off the O2 sensor so the best way to tune it is by measuring the exhaust temps.

I used an egt with cheap China gauge off eBay and teed a 0-5v feed off the wire that moves the needle to goto the logger worked fine
