ABS only pops up when there is a fault to be fixed. It disappears immediately after the fault has been repair. I had air in the lines which set the ABS light warning off, once the air was removed, ABS fault disappeared.

Attempting to clear the fault will not help *normally*. There should be a "current" fault set that will need repairing.

Also, there is no software available currently to do any ABS diagnostics on a VT.

The fault is probably not stored on an eeprom, so you could try unhook the battery for 15min, and put back on, it might clear the fault. But again, if there is a problem, the abs will return immediately.

Bridge pins 5 and 12 in the diagnostic connector under the dash and turn the ignition switch to ON, this will flash up any logged ABS error codes on the ABS dashlight, very similar to flashing up the diagnostic ECU codes on the check engine light using pins 5&6.
If you get code 12 all good, otherwise fault code should help you identify and fix the problem.

VT Commodores can develop a problem with the ABS module. If you can't get codes out try the engine codes. If nothing it's the ABS module. When it fails it pulls the whole system down and you cant read engine, transmission or ABS.

That's why I new about the above.
My VT had a faulty ABS when I first got it, took me a while to work it out at the time.

Yea. If you can't read any codes at all disconnect the ABS module and if you can now read engine/transmission bingo you found it. Faulty ABS module. However I have also seen the sensor cables breaking but not that common.

The ABS light is earthed out through the module. I would disconnect the module wiring plug and if the light stays on you have a wiring to earth problem but if the light goes out my guess is the module is at fault if it won't flash any codes. Have you tried the ABS? It should not be working if there is a fault. It will skid when braking hard not hammering your brake pedal.
