errors when logging with usb interface
So as the tittle states im using a usb logger connected with 6" of cable from the pins of the ecu, the logging was very hit and miss and now i cant log when the car runs, it starts to error and still works for 10 seconds then nothing. when the car isnt running not an issue zero errors. ive moved the connection from on the pcb itself to the pins trying to fix the issue but still no go. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking?
*Every time this happens i have to close tunerpro and reopen to clear the errors and be able to log again.
this is on a vr 5lt ecu, 11p and nvram with ose plugin.

where is the ignition coil located?
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Re: errors when logging with usb interface
Not sure if its the same problem but I have experienced the exact same problem with VN-VR 5L where the coils was relocated to the shock tower and the further away the coil was from the loom driver side the less the errors. In the stockish location the errors went away. Seemed like RFI from the ignition system was causing interference with the harness.

Re: errors when logging with usb interface
Try reversing the echo setting in tuner pro. If no better it's an interference problem most likely. Try a USB lead with a ferrite bead on it

Re: errors when logging with usb interface
well the coil is surrounded by the loom so may be an issue there, its quite a big coil too. ill try different locations see if that helps.
already have the ferrite bead but could try adding another or putting before the usb interface maybe.
doesnt want to connect at all with echo off. no bcm or anything

Re: errors when logging with usb interface
I have found that some aftermarket sparkplug leads can cause this issue. Replaced them with standard Holden leads and fixed the issue.
Re: errors when logging with usb interface
You just reminded me of another carby motor i converted. Some of those old motors had non-resistive plugs and solid copper leads. Very bad rfi comes from them. Swapped to resistive plugs (usually have an 'r' in the part number) and resistive leads and the rfi problem i had went away
