However, it still does work to some degree ...

No way to script it in PuTTY.

The best way to copy a single command for pasting is to create a text file (notepad), type each command on it's own line, then place your cursor at the beginning of the line for the command you want, hold the shift key down, hit the down arrow key one time, then hit Control-C to copy it to the clipboard.

That technique includes the CR.
Great thanks! It's working now.. just really buggy sometimes I have to enter the commands twice! and never goes to a new line, just rights over itself? But I can log just fine now, and the messages a great:)

No wonder forscan said it couldn't connect to this darn elm! Wound up using my mongoose pro GM, with forscan? who knew that would work, and forscan did not complain, added remote start the to work truck, and added a spare key to my wifes mazda. but that another story:) But that was why I bought the ford elm327 though that was what I needed to have. No maybe I found a use for it after all? But yes it was a cheap Chinese clone.

Try,
AT Z
AT L1
then the rest of your commands and see if that helps with the new line issue.

Much easier to read when spaces are enabled otherwise looks like a blur of numbers.

I agree with Tazzi, you probably should change the 'AT S0' to 'AT S1' ...

It sort of all seems a bit pointless... why try & capture something that is for free?

Not sure what you mean. The heading is about using capturevpw from pcmhammer tools (originally), not capturing pcm hammers communications.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

I can think of a very good reason ... education!

But as Antus eluded to it's about capturing VPW bus traffic.

Thats the one! AT S1.

It helps with ELMS keep up with busy bus's to disable it, usually more so for CANBus, but for human readability, S1 is the way to go.

Its always highly recommended to use filters once you have an idea of what modules you want to see messages from or sending to, eliminates unnecessary information and prevent potential drop of frames.
