ALDL interface circuit
ALDL interface circuit
Here is a link to an interface for the RS232, I have used this circuit with and without the regelator. Just need to use the +5V from the ECM. Just make sure you use electrolytic caps. Hope this doesnt make it too easy an exercise for anyone to make a hi speed comms ECM

why is that ?GONZO wrote:Just make sure you use electrolytic caps.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

(Hope the explanation wasn't too complicated.)

Re: '808 high speed comms mod
the techedge schematic has an error or 2 as well the diode is round the wrong way for a start if i remember right

Re: '808 high speed comms mod
the techedge is for an ALDL interface (half duplex, with echo). this mod provides RS232 serial (no echo) at 8192 baud. Most software is fine with it if you find the "echo?" option and disable it.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

has it been fixed if not what needs to be changeddelcowizzid wrote:the techedge schematic has an error or 2 as well the diode is round the wrong way for a start if i remember right

Re: '808 high speed comms mod
heres the techedge one .... some years ago i emailed Peter and asked if i could display this on my site and also if he would mind if i slightly edited it.
main difference is that it gets +12v from the car rather than from the serial port (seems to be more stable this way and its in the aldl plug from factory!)
also the diode has been reversed as antus mentioned.

Re: '808 high speed comms mod
the data sheet says polarised either tatinums or electrolytics will do.or use the other version i think its the 233 that doesnt need external caps they are built in check the datasheets they will tell you
