I know its a big ask , but would someone like vl400 please post a schematic for connecting ds1230y and or ds1245y nvram to a 3082 vr man v8 ecu with pics of where to solder wires to ecm .Been using ostrich and would really like to try mode 4 aldl write /read .Ive heard ds1230 virtually plugs straight in place of eprom and solder 3 wires to ecm

I can point you to the write pin from the processor. From there you'll need to find the datasheet for the original EPROM and the NVRAM you want to hook up and make up some kind of adaptor. You'll need to connect the write pin back to this place on the back on the PCB. The VR manual ECUs are identical to the '808 but with the high speed ALDL chip built in, so no high speed comms mod is required.

I gather you wish to do it yourself, but for anyone else reading this thread who wants a plug-in solution VL400's pre-made boards are available here:

Thanks heaps for that info antus. Ive connected 128x8 sram to memcal ie in place of standard eprom .Open flash tool load ose$12,load cal file, start engine and idles at 750rpm.Open tunerpro change idle to 1200 rpm ,save file.Load new file to ecm with flashtool and engine rpm starts to increase before file finished writing to 1200 rpm.I noticed the ecm writes new file over existing cal ie starts 8000 (18000) .The cal code is not written in 0000 - 7fff on the ram (checked on burner) .Every thing working well though, very handy tool. Just thought i read somewhere cal written to 0000 - 2fff.Can anyone explain whats actually happening from key on to engine running. Thanks again

This generation of ecm is mapped out like this:

http://www.diy-efi.org/gmecm/ecm_info/p4_registers.html

Ram is 0-0xff, and the eprom (cal data and program) is mapped to 0xC000->0xFFFF for 16k or 0x8000->0xFFFF for 32k eprom. Data is not copied to ram at runtime as there is so little of it. Its read from the eprom every time its required for a calculaton.

Sorry for dredging up an old thread, but it's the one closest to my question.

I have a VP V6 auto using an '808 with VL400's USB board, I have an AT29C256 in the original memcal casing in the ECU.

To enable the write function on this chip through TunerproRT, I need to connect Pin 1 to the write enable spot on the '808?
Would soldering a wire to connect the two points be sufficient?

Cheers

You need an nvram board to write from tunerpro. The AT29C256 is electronic erase but you have to pull the chip out the ecu and put it in the programmer, when erased the whole chip is erased in one hit then its written again in its entirety. The ecu cant do this.
