Re: Vats?
the bcm sends a signal to the ecm telling it that the key has unlocked it, then the engine will start, no message from the bcm, no start.
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Re: Vats?
So, I just bought a vats unlock module off eBay, if I put that on the primary data wire, should that work?

Re: Vats?
you havent told us what the module is, but it sounds like thats what its meant to do and how it'd work. Normally the ecu and the bcm have to be paired together, so there may be some kind of learning process you have to go through the first time. Normally its a simpler option to disable vats in the tune on the ecu, but it all just depends what your doing.
Have you read the FAQ? For lots of information and links to significant threads see here: http://pcmhacking.net/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=1396

Re: Vats?
Never seen a VATS module on ebay, only memcals with the VATS disabled.
If it's just the memcal, plug it into the ECU and away you go, assuming of course it is the right memcal for your vehicle, engine, trans and ECU.

Re: Vats?
I'll try post a link. Says it can do ls1, other gm based engines.
It says 30 and 50hz output.
If someone knows how to put a link from iPad. I'll do it.

Re: Vats?
As it pertains to 86 through 89 Camaro's / Corvette's it's a VATS module that reads the key pellets resistor value, and the authorizes the ECM, and starter enable relay. In 1990, a CCM (central command module) was introduced to interact with all computers in the vehicle performing a similar function. removing VATS from the memcal programming is only 1/2, and the starter enable relay must be grounded, or bypassed. placing the correct resistor in place of the key pellet is another method.
