Speedo

Post by HQ355 »

The time has come to convert my mechanical speedo to electronic as the t-56 dosnt have a speedo drive for the cable. My HQ speedo is about 90mm high x 100mm wide, does any one know of an electronic speedo about this size that I can graft into the HQ housing ?

you can put the guts of a VN-VS electronic speedo behind the HQ faceplate and then press the shortened VN-VS needle back on top. once done, you need to put a variable resistor in a specific spot to recliabrate the needle (without affecting the odometer) so then the process to get it right is to calibrate the ODOmeter with your speedo corrector box, then get the needle correct to the HQ faceplate with your variable resistor. ive done this on a Datto and a VK. I think delcoqizzid may have done it on a HQ. its all detailed here: I saved the page before it went down.

Thanks mate that was what I was hoping for, something cheap and easy, I bought a spare HQ speedo on the weekend to play with.

yeah done hq and torana .fits in most speedos once you remove the boards off the unit and fit them in a jaycar project box.screw a variable resistor in the side of the box makes it easy to adjust the needle while driving LOL
