pman92 asked:

"On another note does anyone now what the messages with destination/primary ID "EA" and "EB" are?"

According to J2178-4 these relate to "Displays". From the log of VPW activity, they appear to involve source IDs 10 (ECM) and 50 (BCM, I think), and intended for the Instrument Cluster.

For example, the hex format VPW message frame "68 EA 10 0A 01 AE" allows the cluster to display "P" for Park, as per the following list of bytes for the fifth byte of that message:

;Park - H'01'
;Reverse - H'02'
;Neutral - H'03'
;Drive - H'09'
;3 - H'08'
;2 - H'07'
;1 - H'06'

Thanks for clearing that up! I haven't had a chance to have a proper look through J2178-4 yet.
Source ID 50 (in this case at least) was the PIM.
