Hello all,
What's the preference when using a surge tank, stainless or alloy ?
Does the alloy corrode over time ?

Re: Surge tanks (swirl pots)
i went for an alloy one cause thats pretty much all there was at the shop i went to .... having said that i'd probably go for the cheapest one given the option ... alloy is fine for fuel .... look at all the toranas with alloy drop tanks .....
No matter what the question is, the answer is always more horsepower!

Fair enuff.
Ideally, I would like to use an in tank setup, but cutting and welding fuel tanks scares the bejeebers out of me.
I've heard of too many stories of people washing out fuel tanks with detergent, running the car exhaust through the tank for ten minutes,
and then at the first cut "KABOOM" .
No thanks. I like my guts on the inside.

Re: Surge tanks (swirl pots)
I have welded to some baffels internally in my tank. I use the return fuel as a ejector type pump to fill the swirl pot.
When you steam a tank you need to get it bloody hot! A car exhaust wont even get it close.
I have welded numerous tanks, but still get a bit edgy. I like to pump a bit of argoshield in too, this is to try and stop it going pop!

Re: Surge tanks (swirl pots)
ok this is what i got ..... please excuse my slap together wiring ... it has been fixed and runs through the relays now
under the tray of the FB Ute...
so we have high pressure pump on the bottom pipe, then the two top ones on the side are engine return and lift pump, then on the top of the tank is a pipe that goes back to the filler neck for return to main tank.
soldered in brass fitting i mentioned before.
