I don't know what kind of oil they are using, but isn't common knowledge that oil ingestion promotes knock? hence why catch cans are such a big benefit to performance engines.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Nah, burning oil (normal engine oil) creates carbon build up, carbon hot spots cause detonation. Thats where catch cans are useful. I want to know what oil they are using too.... and is the entire engine on it or is it a stand alone system?..

Yeah, my last dyno at C&V's a couple of weeks ago had to be cut short as the intake gasket started letting oil in from the valley..vlad01 wrote:I don't know what kind of oil they are using, but isn't common knowledge that oil ingestion promotes knock?
First & second pull didn't rattle a bit, 3rd run just started to rattle, & showed signs of burning oil, 4th run was cut short because of how bad it started to rattle & smoke.
I've had cases where pathetic rocker cover baffling caused the pcv to suck oil & cause random rattling, my last car was one of them.

Definitely sounds like F1 oil isn't anything like your regular family sedan oil and they even mention it in the video that it's really more like fuel than oil.
F1 engine tolerances are that tight that when cold the engine won't even turn over. They pre-heat the engine to warm em up before actually firing it up.

Not sure what the video was there, VL400, but the copyright claim was from this guy so presumably its one of his engines here: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Keith5700
