Watch out for that synology storage, they have an extremely high failure rate.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

Any network engineers here?

We are going to put in fibre shortly so I'm thinking ahead a bit and considering putting in a wired network. Thinking about putting the modem, switch and hard drives etc in the garage (under the house) but having the wireless router up in the house.

i have an ebay special camera system at home, got 7 cameras around the place, all POE, switch mounted in the shed and all the cat 5 cabling runs to that from the house and shed etc.

Hikvision NVR box with 2tb surveillance HDD seems to give me about 2 weeks recording at 1080 quality.

can connect to it from the phone.

so far so good.

Not much advancement on the data cabling but fibre is slated for install on the 16th next month I did however finish replacing the under sized cabling in the garage and fitted 4 new power points.

On a less exciting note, the very slight weep from the rear main seal on the Calais has now turned into a drip and the power steering rack also has a minor leak :(

I'm off 2 minds about the seal, do I just replace the seal or do the entire rear engine plate with seal? Does anybody know a good place to get em? I found a couple on ebay
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/REAR-MAIN-S ... 1319168575

Or maybe one from the GM parts online store, https://www.gmpartsonline.net/oem-parts ... r-12585249 Which I think is the correct one but wouldn't come with gasket or bolts I think.

Not sure yet how I'm going to manage this job ATM, the shoulder/arm isn't fully co-operating and it looks like I'm stuck on restricted duties for another month yet.

I foresee a nice little welding/work table in my garage in the near future :)
