I agree. It looks like the star point is connected internally.
Probably not much you can do with it.

Torque will be severely limited if you run this off 240V.

itll draw a shitload of current and overheat if you use 240v on it. star point is inside, i doubt you can change it. what are you using it for? its not a real big motor you could replace with a single phase motor to do same job?
other options are getting the right voltage VFD or using a phase changer

Its for a vehicle hoist. Installing 3 phase is one option, and might yet turn out to be the best.
Im also looking in to finding an engine that I could replace this one with. Im currently trying to figure out how to get this mount off the shaft. Im not experienced with this kind of stuff and Im loath to bash it as it could damage the bearings, but perhaps it is designed to be forced off. If I can get it off there are some retailers around who may be able to supply a single phase engine. If I can find some time during the business day to drive out to some shops someone who can supply an engine might also be able to move the mount.

yeah its quite possible looking at the locating woodruff key in it, its probably just pressed on, maybe a gear puller can get it off ?

Look for grub screws, most times on top of keyway, may be still a little tight if it is take grub screws out and make sure there's none under those as some use it as a locking system. Prob need a tap or to to get off after that, not normally a press fit as there not a high rpm motor.

I cant see anything that would lock it. Have investigated pullers and it looks like that might be the go. Seem to be able to get hydrolic pullers on ebay for ~ $100. Maybe its worth investing.
Most the youtube demos show heating the outer part with a torch. Im just not sure if the crappy looking alloy will handle much abuse before it breaks. Im going to my mates place tonight and he may have the tools or else will see what we can figure out there.

Have also had some problems with my new engine crane, the ram started leaking on the first use and this time I touched it and it didnt stop leaking overnight out the bleed off. But the vendor replaced it this morning and the new one (which had no rust around the ram when It came out the box - unlike the previous) worked fine so I could use it to lift the arms and get the safety mech assembled. So really its just the engine now.

Be careful ! I've never seen one of those couplings as a press fit ! Something is holding it, don't put to much pressure with a puller

With the engine hoist, make sure you use fine wet n dry and polish the ram shaft to a nice smooth polished finish as they all seem to come from the factory only ground in a rough preliminary finish and that hacks the seals to the shit house after a few goes. One the first use of mine oil was weeping out and had rubber particles in the oil all along the shaft, I polished it and it solved the problem straight away. Also stopped it bleeding down from an hour or so, to taking a almost 2 weeks with a load in it.
I'm the director of VSH (Vlad's Spec Holden), because HSV were doing it ass about.

I've been running my 3HP turret mill from one of those 2.2kw VFDs for years with no issues.
I still haven't got around to rewiring the motor for 240v though. I have the current limit set to 7 amps because I'm running the mill off a domestic 4 way power board and extension cord :oops: but I think I've only hit the current limit once.

That grey wire should be your star point. Is there 3 wires inside the insulation jacket?
If not, follow the wire to the junction inside the case.
