Not the greatest, but at least it is only the negative. It is not a fire or electrical risk just poor workmanship....

If I had to guess why myself, I'd say it was because the previous battery had the negative terminal up where the "SuperCharge Batteries" wording is on the sticker, which the shorter negative cable probably reached then.
Then he was snookered with the terminals not where they used to be on the battery change over, been there before.

Supposedly a rebuilt transmission a year ago
Front bearing on countershaft collapsed due to oil starvation because of this quality workmanship
