Efi 253 with cop

Post by jenko »

I have a 253 block and vn manifold was thinking of buying some alloy heads and rebuilding block and want to delco it with cop
what is the best solution .
Vt distributor with Vl 400 ignition module or crank trigger ?
cam? good street
pistons seem to be a problem if you want 10:1 with 64cc heads
Hope delcowizzid can chime in on this

Vl400 module or northstar dis for wastespark setup with twin cas mounted on the front like wake on here did.worst thing about vn heads on 253 lift is limited or bores need notched cause the valves don't fit inside the bore diameter
If Its Got Gas Or Ass Count Me In.if it cant be fixed with a hammer you have an electrical problem

Got an old 308 block my brother has, he mentioned he'd just sell it when got the chance if you're interested. Its pretty rusty though as its been sitting in one of the sheds for years, just heavy surface rust.

Thanks for the offer Vlad but really want to keep engine under 4.3 litre capacity for a boat racing class.
reckon I can notch the bores .they do it on some ford v8s

vn heads to big for a 253...theyre bit too big for 304 cubes unless you bump comp up high.

Reckon be better off staying early heads & adapting delco efi to factory 4bbl manifold using throttle body elbow & drilling or welding injector bosses to that manifold.

Big comp, decent cam with early heads that ol' 253 will rev like a mofo'

done some measuring and with 0.030'' overbore standard vn heads fit and valves clear bore.
and 245 hemi pistons have same pin dia with .010'' higher pin height with 0.135 '' larger bore
wondering if the 2.02 valve heads would then fit

Apparently the meat is there on early blocks and this one is from an HT
can get sonic tested to check

Well I would think 308 and 253 have the same base casting so the jacket OD should be the same as 253 just not bored out.

There's a lot of things different, I'm not up with them but the info is in the web.
